Udder Hygiene

Kalle Sponge Cloth for Udder Hygiene

The keys to perfect milk quality are a healthy stock of cattle and professional hygienic measures. The lowest possible level of germs, best raw milk quality and, ultimately, full payment when selling the milk, all require reliable means to improve dairy and thus udder hygiene.

Our sponge cloth was further developed especially for this application and tested by the Teaching and Research Institute for Cattle Husbandry Hofgut Neumühle, belonging to the state of Rheinland-Pfalz, in Münchweiler an der Alsenz. A practice-relevant long-term investigation took place since 2006 in the dairy sector on approx. 70 dairy cows to analyse practical suitability.

The results can be seen or "read":
After more than 250 machine washes at 60°C, almost no wear can be detected, colour fastness is good, the feel for the user and the udder stimulation are classed as pleasant and very good. In direct comparison to competitors' products, the dirt absorption and cleaning capabilities were more favourably classed; the fact that the Kalle udder cloth is biodegradable was praised as an important and significant contribution to environmental protection compared to other products (disposal as manure/liquid manure).

Advantages of the Kalle Sponge Cloth compared to other udder cloths:

  • Extremely good dirt absorption and dirt transfer capabilities
  • Machine washable, suitable for boil washes – therefore, hygienically perfect
  • Durable
  • Extremely absorbent
  • Lint-free
  • Pleasantly soft and "grippy" nonetheless; it has a stimulating effect on the udder
  • Complete environmental compatibility – decomposes in manure or liquid manure

When cleaning udders, we recommend that the sponge cloths are machine washed before every use at a minimum temperature of 60 °C using standard washing detergent, and then used in a moist state.
